My name is Emily Heckmann Konkle and I am the managing partner of Rear View Industries. Located in beautiful Austin, Texas, we are lucky to be surrounded by technology, creativity, innovative spirit, and a dose of “weird.” In Austin, we OWN our weirdness; it makes us unique and stand out.

As rapidly as Austin grows, it’s still a small town at heart and a place where people look out for one another. Because of this, Austin was a great place to grow up and learn about the importance of knowing people from all walks of life. Although I have a great network in the Austin area, I never hesitate to meet new people nationally and globally. Just because someone’s in a different time zone doesn’t mean they aren’t worth making time for.

I studied Government (Political Science) at the University of Texas at Austin.  Such a degree may seem like a stretch to marketing and business development, but selling a candidate takes the same skill set as selling a product or service.

I have many years of marketing and business development in both B2B and B2C spaces, but I discovered a passion for design nearly ten years ago, and I believe this was icing on the cake to round out what I do.

Adding marketing and business development background to a design makes for a better, more intuitive design. I am not just pumping out a design someone has spelled out for me. I put my business acumen and strategy into every piece before a client has to ask for it.

You may wonder about the retro vibe of my site and graphics. Aside from the “fun” factor, I love history and believe it has much to teach us. Even if it is as few as five to ten years ago, there is something to learn that may help us anticipate the future. I ultimately want to know about your history, the history of your service offering or product, and the story it tells. This story makes a great strategy foundation for your product.
